The wiki to help people avoid casually ableist language
Casual Ableism Wiki was created on the 26th of February 2022. Our goal is to build a wiki with in-depth information about ableist terms and phrases, and alternatives that are not ableist.
Currently, 0 users are working on 3 articles here. :)
If you want to contribute, please look over the about page/mission statement and content policy briefly first. :)
Casual ableism, on this wiki, means the usage of words and phrases that have origins related to discriminating against (mentally and/or physically) disabled people. People who use casual ableist language often do not intend to be hurtful, and generally don't know the origins of the language they're using.
This site is a wiki, meaning that anybody (including you) can make a contribution to it. You don't even need to create an account, although it's strongly recommended. These are some things you can do to contribute:
- Edit an existing article. Search any page and improve its content! You can also expand a stub.
- Go to Special:WantedPages and create a page on one of those topics!
- Help to add information to pages which need it!
- Spread the word. If you know somebody who is trying to avoid ableist language, tell them about this wiki.
